Kalulushi

Zambia

Kalulushi is a town located in the Copperbelt Province of north central Zambia. It is situated on the M18 road, approximately 12 km west of Kitwe. According to the 2022 census, the population of the Kalulushi District was 170,701.

The town originated as a planned company town during the mid-20th century to support the development of mining companies. It initially served as the location for the main offices of the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines. While it was established around these industrial operations, economic activity in Kalulushi declined significantly following the closure of the 2 Shaft and 7 Shaft Mining sites.
