Kabompo is a town located in north-western Zambia situated along the Kabompo River. It has a population exceeding 88,000 people and is characterized by its surrounding teak forests. The town serves as a district center that was originally established in Nkulwashi before being moved to its current location.
The area is notable for its historical and ongoing contributions to national food security through the Food Reserve Agency (FRA). During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Kabompo was a significant hub for agricultural activities involving NAMBOARD. The town is also home to a Roman Catholic mission.
