Mporokoso

Mporokoso is a town situated in the Northern Province of Zambia. It is located on a flat plateau at an elevation of nearly 1,500 meters, positioned approximately 75 kilometers southeast of Lake Mweru Wantipa and 100 kilometers southwest of Lake Tanganyika.

The town derives its name from Chief Mporokoso, a senior chief of the Bemba people. The chief's palace is located at Chishamwamba, which is situated near the town. Additionally, Mporokoso District serves as one of the 12 administrative districts within the Northern Province.
