Kawambwa is a town located in the Luapula Province of Zambia. It is situated on the edge of the northern Zambian plateau at an altitude of 1300 meters, positioned above the Luapula valley.
The area serves as an administrative district of the same name. This designation was established by British colonial authorities who chose the town's location due to its preferred climate on the plateau compared to the hotter conditions of the valley where a majority of the district's population resides.
