Paarl is a town located in the Western Cape province of South Africa, situated approximately 60 kilometres (37 mi) northeast of Cape Town. It serves as the largest town within the Cape Winelands region.
The area is characterized by its scenic environment and a long-standing heritage in viticulture and fruit-growing. Due to the expansion of the Mbekweni township, Paarl currently functions as a de facto urban unit with the neighboring town of Wellington. The town has a population of 294,457 inhabitants.
