Thembisa, formerly known as Tembisa, is a large township located in the Gauteng province of South Africa. It is situated to the north of Kempton Park on the East Rand.
The township was established in 1957 following the resettlement of black people from several surrounding areas, including Alexandra and various locations in Edenvale, Kempton Park, Midrand, and Germiston.
