Randburg is an area located in the Gauteng province of South Africa. It was formerly established as a separate municipality before its administration was devolved to the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality.
The transition of Randburg's administration occurred in the late 1990s alongside neighboring areas such as Sandton and Roodepoort. During the transitional period between 1996 and 2000, the area was part of the Northern Metropolitan Local Council (MLC).
