Boksburg is a city located on the East Rand in the Gauteng province of South Africa. It was named in honor of W. Eduard Bok, who served as the State Secretary of the South African Republic.
The area gained significance following the discovery of gold in 1887. During this period, Boksburg was connected to other major mining towns on the Witwatersrand via the Main Reef Road, with the Angelo Hotel serving as a staging post established in 1887.
