Cacadu is a small town located in the Chris Hani District Municipality within the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Formerly known as Lady Frere, the settlement was officially renamed in 2017 as part of a broader initiative to change colonial names across the country.
The name Cacadu is derived from the Xhosa term for "bulrush water," which refers to the White Kei River that rises within the district. The town is notable for being one of the largest rural areas in the former Transkei region.
