Phuthaditjhaba is a town situated in the Free State province of South Africa. It is geographically located within a section of the Drakensberg mountains and serves as a border region, neighboring the province of KwaZulu-Natal to the southeast and the independent country of Lesotho to the southwest.
Historically, Phuthaditjhaba served as the capital of QwaQwa, which was a bantustan or homeland established during the apartheid era. Following the end of apartheid, the town was integrated into the Free State province.
