Mpumalanga is one of the nine provinces located in eastern South Africa. Its name translates to "East" or literally "The Place Where the Sun Rises" in the Nguni languages. The province serves as a significant geographical region bordering the countries of Eswatini and Mozambique.
The provincial capital is Mbombela. Mpumalanga shares internal borders with several other South African provinces, including Limpopo to the north, Gauteng to the west, the Free State to the southwest, and KwaZulu-Natal to the south.
