Taiz is a city located in southwestern Yemen within the Yemeni highlands. It serves as the capital of the Taiz Governorate and is situated at an elevation of approximately 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) above sea level. The city is positioned near the port city of Mocha on the Red Sea.
As of 2023, Taiz has an estimated population of about 940,600 residents. It currently holds the distinction of being the third largest city in Yemen.
