Zabid is a historic town located on the western coastal plain of Yemen in the Al Hudaydah region. It has an urban population of approximately 52,590 people and is recognized as one of the oldest towns in the country.
The town served as the capital for several ruling dynasties over many centuries. Due to its historical significance, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, though it was subsequently placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger in 2000.
