Yemen

Mukalla, officially known as the Mukalla City District, is a seaport and the capital city district of Hadhramaut, which is Yemen's largest governorate. Located in the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula on the shores of the Arabian Sea along the Gulf of Aden, the city sits approximately 480 kilometres east of Aden.

As the sixth-largest city in Yemen with a population of roughly 595,000 as of 2023, Mukalla serves as the most significant port city in the Hadhramaut region. The city was also the capital of the Islamic Emirate of Yemen from 2015 to 2016 and is served by the nearby Riyan International Airport.
