Nuku

Wallis and Futuna

Nuku was a traditional province located on the island of Hiva Oa in Wallis and Futuna. During pre-European times, it encompassed approximately the western half of Hiva Oa's landmass, as well as all the tribes belonging to the neighboring islands of Tahuata and Fatu Hiva.

Rather than functioning as a unified governmental unit, Nuku operated as a confederation of local tribes. This organizational structure was primarily utilized during periods of warfare with tribes from Pepane, which constituted the other province of Hiva Oa.
