The Hoang Sa Archipelago, also known as the Paracel Islands or Xisha Islands, is a group of islands located in the South China Sea. While it is often associated with Vietnam, the archipelago's sovereignty is currently contested.
The territory is presently under the control of the People's Republic of China. However, its status remains a subject of international dispute, with claims over the islands being asserted in whole or in part by various parties.
