Da Nang, also spelled Danang, is a city located in Vietnam. It serves as one of the country's seven direct-controlled municipalities, falling under the administration of the central government. By population, it is the fourth largest municipality in Vietnam, while it holds the distinction of being the largest by geographical area.
The city functions as a significant transport hub due to its port and its location along National Route 1 and the North–South Railway. Da Nang has hosted APEC 2017 and maintains a Human Development Index of 0.800, which ranks fifth among all Vietnamese municipalities and provinces.
