Nghi Xuan is a rural district located in the Ha Tinh province within the North Central Coast region of Vietnam. The district covers a total area of 220 square kilometers and serves as a significant geographical area in the province.
The administrative seat of the district is the town of Nghi Xuan. As of 2003, the district recorded a population of 99,288 residents. The area is notably recognized as the birthplace of two accomplished Vietnamese writers, Nguyen Du and Nguyen Cong Tru.
