Vinh is a former city located in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam. It served as the capital city of Nghệ An province and functions as an important economic and cultural center for the country's North-Central region.

The name Vinh currently refers to an area of 166.22 square kilometres (64.18 sq mi). This urban agglomeration comprises six wards: Trường Vinh, Thành Vinh, Vinh Hưng, Vinh Phú, Vinh Lộc, and Cửa Lò.
