Hải Dương is a city located in northern Vietnam within the Red River Delta. It serves as a key location situated at the midpoint between the capital city of Hanoi and the major port of Haiphong. The city is part of the Northern Key Economic Zone.

Historically, Hải Dương served as the capital of an industrialized province that was formerly located in the Hanoi Capital Region but has since been merged into Haiphong. As of 2019, the city had a recorded population of 241,373 residents.
