Việt Trì is a former city located in the Northeast region of Vietnam. It served as the capital city of Phú Thọ Province and covers an area of 110 square kilometres (42 mi2). As of 2010, the city had a population of 260,288.
The city serves as the economic center of the province, hosting numerous service industries and industrial firms. Culturally, Việt Trì is recognized as the first capital of Vietnam and is widely described as the origin of the Vietnamese nation.
