Lâm Thao is a former rural district located in the Phú Thọ province within the Northeast region of Vietnam. The district serves as the seat of its own namesake capital, which shares the name Lâm Thao.
The district covers a total area of 115 km2. As of 2003, it had a recorded population of 106,610 residents.
