Quảng Yên is a county-level town located in the north-east region of Vietnam within Quảng Ninh Province. The town was established in 2011 from the former district of Yên Hưng and covers a total area of 314.2 km2 (121.3 sq mi). As of 2003, the district had a recorded population of 137,198.
The town is geographically situated near several major landmarks and administrative areas. It borders Hạ Long city and Halong Bay to the east, Thủy Nguyên, Cát Hải district, and Hải Phòng city to the west and south, and Uông Bí and Hoành Bồ district to the north. The Bạch Đằng River flows through the Yên Hưng area.
