Phong Tho is a rural district located in the Lai Châu province within the Northwest region of Vietnam. It serves as the administrative center for the surrounding area, with its namesake town serving as the district's capital.
The district covers a total land area of 1,034.60 km2. As of 2019, the population of Phong Tho was recorded at 79,645 residents.
