Hai Ba Trung

Vietnam

Hai Ba Trung refers to the Trưng sisters, Trưng Trắc and Trưng Nhị, who were Lạc Việt military leaders in ancient Vietnam. Active between approximately 14 and 43 AD, they are celebrated as national heroines for leading a rebellion against the first Chinese domination of the region.

Following their successful uprising in AD 40, the sisters ruled for three years. Trưng Trắc is notably recognized as the first female monarch in Vietnamese history and was posthumously titled Queen Trưng in the Đại Việt sử ký toàn thư.
