Pampanito is a city located in Venezuela.
The name Pampanito is also associated with the USS Pampanito (SS-383/AGSS-383), a Balao-class submarine built for the United States Navy during World War II. It was the third U.S. Navy vessel named for the pompano fish and completed six war patrols between 1944 and 1945.
After serving as a United States Naval Reserve training ship from 1960 to 1971, the submarine was designated a National Historic Landmark. It is currently preserved as a memorial and museum ship within the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, California.
