Lobatera is a town located in the Táchira State of Venezuela. It serves as the capital of the Lobatera Municipality and is situated within the Lobatera valley in the Andean region. The town sits on a small plateau at an elevation of 968 meters (3,176 feet) above sea level, specifically at the confluence of the Lobatera and La Molina streams.
The historic center of Lobatera is noted for its preservation of the original grid layout of square blocks and straight streets mandated by the Laws of the Indies. Additionally, the town features vernacular architecture that is integrated into the surrounding rural landscape, making it a representative example of an Andean-Tachirense settlement.
