Cariaco is a town located in the state of Sucre, Venezuela. It serves as the capital of the Ribero Municipality and is situated a short distance up the Cariaco River.
The town is positioned at the head of the Gulf of Cariaco, where it holds the Cariaco Basin. While the town itself sits inland from the water, its immediate coastal port is known as Puerto Sucre.
