Aragua, officially known as the Aragua State, is one of the 23 states located in Venezuela. It is situated in the north-central Central administrative region of the country. The state is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the north, and by the states of Miranda and La Guaira to the east, Guárico to the south, and Carabobo to the west.
The capital city of Aragua is Maracay, which has served as the seat of government since 1917. The state has existed in its roughly present form since 1899.
