Los Teques is the capital of the municipality of Guaicaipuro and the state of Miranda in north-central Venezuela. Located approximately 25 km southwest of the nation's capital, Caracas, it is situated at an elevation of 1,169 metres (3,835 ft) above mean sea level.
The city lies within the Cordillera de la Costa mountain range on the banks of the Río San Pedro. It is a component of the Greater Caracas agglomeration and had a recorded population of 159,532 in 2015 according to data from the European Commission.
