Santa Elena de Uairén is a small city located in the state of Bolívar in Venezuela. It is situated near the international borders with Brazil and Guyana.
The city was founded in 1923 by Lucas Fernández Peña. Its name is derived from two sources: his first daughter, Elena, and the Uairén River, which flows through the municipality.
