La Luz is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Otero County, New Mexico, in the United States. It is situated immediately north of Alamogordo, positioned on the western flank of the Sacramento Mountains and at the eastern edge of the Tularosa Basin.
As of the 2020 census, the population of La Luz was 1,578. The settlement was part of Mexico until 1848. Its name is derived from the Spanish word for "light."
