Maracay is a city located in north-central Venezuela, situated near the Caribbean coast. It serves as the capital and most significant city of the state of Aragua. A large portion of the city falls under the jurisdiction of the Girardot Municipality.

The city is known locally by the nickname "Ciudad Jardín." According to the 2011 census, the population of Maracay and its surrounding areas was approximately 955,362 residents.
