Samarkand

Samarkand is a city located in southeastern Uzbekistan. It serves as the capital of the Samarkand Region and is classified as a district-level city that includes the urban-type settlements of Kimyogarlar, Farhod, and Khishrav.

As one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia, Samarkand holds significant historical status. As of 2021, the city had a population of 551,700 inhabitants, making it the third-largest city in Uzbekistan.
