Fergana is a district-level city located in eastern Uzbekistan. It serves as the capital of the Fergana Region and is situated approximately 320 kilometers east of the national capital, Tashkent.
The city is positioned about 75 kilometers southwest of Andijan and lies less than 20 kilometers from the border with Kyrgyzstan. The modern city was founded in 1876.
