Andijan, also spelled Andijon and formerly romanized as Andizhan, is a city located in Uzbekistan. It serves as the administrative, economic, and cultural center of the Andijan Region. The city is situated in a tense border region at the south-eastern edge of the Fergana Valley, near the Uzbek border with Kyrgyzstan.
As a district-level city covering an area of 74 km2 (29 sq mi), Andijan is characterized by high population density. It is the most densely populated city in the country, with a density of 10,000 people per km2 and a recorded population of 747,800 inhabitants in 2024.
