Rosario, officially known as the Autonomous City of Rosario, is a major city located in central Argentina within the southern region of the province of Santa Fe. It is situated on the west bank of the Paraná River, approximately 300 km (186 mi) northwest of Buenos Aires. As the third-most populous city in Argentina following Buenos Aires and Córdoba, it serves as a significant urban center with an estimated population of 1,750,000 in its metropolitan area as of 2020.
The city is notable for its diverse architectural heritage, featuring preserved neoclassical, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco styles across hundreds of public buildings and private residences. Additionally, Rosario is recognized as the birthplace of both revolutionary Marxist Che Guevara and professional footballer Lionel Messi.
