Anacortes is a city located in Skagit County, Washington, in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 17,637 residents.
The name Anacortes is an adaptation of Anne Curtis Bowman, who was the wife of Amos Bowman, an early settler on Fidalgo Island. The city serves as one of two principal cities within the Mount Vernon-Anacortes Metropolitan Statistical Area.
