Fort Hunt is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Fairfax County, Virginia, in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the area had a population of 17,231 residents.
The community takes its name from Fort Hunt, a fortification constructed on the banks of the Potomac River in 1897 to protect Washington, D.C., against potential naval attacks. Today, the site of the fort serves as a public park.
Fort Hunt is recognized for being one of the earliest suburbs established within wealthy Fairfax County. The area is also notable for having a high population of senior citizens.
