West Jordan is a city located in Salt Lake County, Utah, within the United States. It serves as a suburb of Salt Lake City and occupies the southwest end of the Salt Lake Valley at an elevation of 4,330 feet (1,320 m). According to the 2020 Census, the city had a population of 116,961, making it the third most populous city in the state.
The city is named after the nearby Jordan River, with its limits beginning on the river's western bank. To the east, the city boundaries extend into the foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains. This area is home to the Kennecott Copper Mine, which is recognized as the world's largest man-made excavation.
