South Jordan is a city located in south central Salt Lake County, Utah, in the United States. Situated approximately 18 miles (29 km) south of Salt Lake City, it is part of the larger Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The city lies within the Salt Lake Valley along the banks of the Jordan River, positioned between the 10,000-foot (3,000 m) Oquirrh Mountains and the 11,000-foot (3,400 m) Wasatch Mountains.
The city features various recreational and natural landmarks, including 3.5 miles (5.6 km) of the Jordan River Parkway, which contains trails, parks, fishing ponds, and natural habitats. Other notable sites within the city limits include 37 public parks, the Salt Lake County fair grounds and equestrian park, and the 67-acre (27 ha) Oquirrh Lake. As of 2025, the population of South Jordan was 88,910 people.
