Moab

United States

Moab was an ancient Levantine kingdom whose territory is situated in what is now southern Jordan. The region is characterized by mountainous terrain and lies along a significant portion of the eastern shore of the Dead Sea.

The existence of the Kingdom of Moab is confirmed by various archaeological findings, most notably the Mesha Stele. This artifact describes a Moabite victory over an unnamed son of King Omri of Israel, an event also recorded in the biblical book of 2 Kings. The capital of the kingdom was Dibon.

Historically, Moab was frequently involved in conflicts with its neighbors to the west, specifically the Israelites, as noted in the Hebrew Bible.
