Lwa, also referred to as loa, are spirits within the African diasporic religion of Haitian Vodou. These entities have also been integrated into various revivalist forms of Louisiana Voodoo.
Many lwa derive their identities from deities worshipped in traditional West African religions, specifically those of the Fon and Yoruba peoples.
