Schertz

Schertz is a city located in Guadalupe, Bexar, and Comal counties in the state of Texas, United States. It is situated within the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan area. According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 42,002, reflecting growth from 31,465 recorded in 2010.

The city was named in honor of the Alsatian family who settled in Texas during the 1840s. As some of the first Germanic emigrants to establish themselves in Central Texas, the Schertz family left a lasting cultural impact on the region. Today, the area remains rich in German heritage and tradition, with many local residents tracing their lineage back to these original settlers.
