Palestine, officially the State of Palestine, is a country located in the Southern Levant region of West Asia. It encompasses the Palestinian territories, which consist of the West Bank—including East Jerusalem—and the Gaza Strip. These territories are currently occupied by Israel and share the vast majority of their borders with it.
The land area of Palestine totals 6,020 square kilometers (2,320 sq mi) with a population exceeding five million people. While Jerusalem is its proclaimed capital, Ramallah serves as the de facto administrative center. The Gaza Strip was the country's largest city prior to forced evacuations in 2023.
