Lubbock is a city located in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Texas and serves as the county seat of Lubbock County. Situated in the Great Plains region, the city lies within an area historically and geographically known as the Llano Estacado and ecologically sits at the southern end of the High Plains.
As of the 2020 census, Lubbock had a population of 257,141, making it the 10th-most populous city in Texas and the 84th-most populous in the United States. The city serves as the economic center of the Lubbock metropolitan area, which had an estimated population of 367,109 in 2024.
