Fort Cavazos, formerly known as Fort Hood, is a United States Army post located in the state of Texas. It is situated near Killeen, positioned approximately 60 miles (100 km) from both Austin and Waco.
The installation serves as the headquarters for the III Armored Corps and the First Army Division West. It is also home to several major military units, including the 1st Cavalry Division and the 3rd Cavalry Regiment.
