Boerne is a city located in the Texas Hill Country region of the United States. It serves as the county seat of Kendall County. The city was originally founded in 1849 under the name Tusculum, but German settlers later renamed it Boerne in 1852 to honor the author and satirist Ludwig Börne.
The city is recognized for its distinct German-Texan history. According to census data, the population grew from 10,471 in 2010 to 17,850 in 2020. Boerne is also notable for being the namesake of the U.S. Supreme Court case City of Boerne v. Flores.
