Sioux Falls is the most populous city in the U.S. state of South Dakota. It serves as the county seat of Minnehaha County and extends into northern Lincoln County. According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 192,517, while its metropolitan area accounts for more than one-third of the state's total population.
Chartered in 1856 on the banks of the Big Sioux River, the city is located in rolling hills at the junction of Interstates 29 and 90. The Sioux Falls metropolitan area has an estimated population of 308,000 residents.
