Rapid City

Rapid City is a city located in western South Dakota, United States. It serves as the county seat of Pennington County and is situated on the eastern slope of the Black Hills. The city was named after Rapid Creek, which served as the site for its initial settlement.

As of the 2020 census, Rapid City has a population of 74,703, making it the second-most populous city in the state. The surrounding metropolitan area has a total population of approximately 156,000 residents.
